FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Evan Patterson has been named Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performance during last weekend’s Texas Shootout.
Patterson, a senior guard from Cedar Hill, TX, averaged 28 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Rams split a pair of games against national competition as host of their Thanksgiving classic. He accounted for 25 points and 12 boards in a loss to the eighth-ranked team in NAIA Division II, University of Sioux Falls (SD) on Friday. Patterson helped the Rams bounce back on Saturday by matching his career-high with 31 points, and pulling down nine-rebounds as the Rams defeated Westmont College (CA), 72-62. For the week, he was 18-of-29 from the field (62.0%) and 18-of-22 from the free throw line (82.0%).
Sixth ranked Texas Wesleyan is now 6-2 on the season. Eight games into the season, Patterson ranks 6th nationally with 21.9 points per game and 13th with 8.6 rebounds per game. |
