MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE CHANGE:

CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH WILL BE PLAYED ON SUNDAY
December 1, 2006

FORT WORTH, TX:  Due to inclement weather, the Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball games at the Oklahoma City University Classic this weekend have been rescheduled.

The game against St. Gregory’s University had been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday.  Tip off for the Rams and Cavs is now scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday December 2.

Texas Wesleyan’s game against Oklahoma City will be played on Sunday, December 3.  The rematch of last season’s NAIA Division I National Championship game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

Texas Wesleyan leads the all-time series with Oklahoma City 8-5.  Last season the Stars edged the Rams 89-81 in Oklahoma City.  Of course their next meeting went to the Rams 67-65 in an unforgettable National Championship game.

Both teams have undergone numerous changes since last season.  The sixth ranked Rams (6-2) feature eight incoming transfer students.  They are currently led by last season’s NAIA Tournament MVP Evan Patterson.  Patterson was named Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week after averaging 28 points and 10.5 rebounds in last weekend’s Texas Shootout.  Patterson currently ranks 7th nationally with 21.9 points per game and 13th with 8.6 rebounds per game.

Second ranked Oklahoma City’s roster has been overhauled with nine transfers.  The Stars have no returning starters, but B.J. Walker, a 6’10” senior transfer from the University of Nebraska, has led the team to an 8-0 start with 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game
