PATRIOTS OUTLAST LADY RAMS IN SECOND HALF

TYLER, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball (2-6) trailed by just three at the half, but 48 points in the second half spurred UT-Tyler to an 83-57 win on Tuesday.

In the first half, the Rams shot 39% and hit three-of-four three-pointers.  The Patriots took a 13-point lead (31-18) with six minutes remaining when the Lady Rams got hot.  Nastassia Brown scored on either end of three pointers from Jennifer Peoples and Kim Gatline to account for 10 unanswered points.  That run brought the Rams within three at 31-28.  They went to the locker room with some momentum and the same margin at 35-32.

In the second half, the Rams trailed 53-45 when UT-Tyler made their run.  A 13-2 run brought the score to 66-47, and the Patriots won going away, 83-57.

The Rams were hurt by 26 turnovers that led to 23 points for the Patriots.  For the game, UT-Tyler shot 46% while holding Texas Wesleyan to just 33%.

Texas Wesleyan was led by Nastassia Brown who nearly reached a double-double in the first half.  Brown finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Kim Gatlin added 11 points for the Lady Rams.  UT-Tyler’s Sarah Stanley led all scorers with 22 points.

The Lady Rams will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 13, when they travel to Richardson, TX, to take on UT-Dallas.  That game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
