SMALLWOOD NAMED RRAC P.O.W.

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Moneke Smallwood has been selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the extended stretch of Dec. 17-30.

Smallwood, a senior guard from Copperas Cove, TX, propelled the Lady Rams to a 67-47 victory over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (OK) in Texas Wesleyan’s only game during the holidays.  She accounted for 19 points, matching her career-high, on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and connected on a pair of three-point shots.  Smallwood set her career-high at 19 this year in Texas Wesleyan’s season opening win over Hillsdale.  Smallwood also contributed two rebounds and two steals as the Lady Rams moved to 8-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

The Lady Rams will open a stretch of four straight conference games this weekend when they travel to Tyler, TX, to take on Texas College on Saturday.  That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
