AUSTIN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (12-6, 4-2 RRAC) suffered an 86-64 loss at the hands of Huston-Tillotson University (4-10, 3-2) in the Branch Gymnasium on Monday.
The HTU Lady Rams came out hot jumping out to a 23-7 lead. HTU outshot Texas Wesleyan 62%-30% in the first half and lead 42-27 at the break.
In the second half, Texas Wesleyan made several runs, closing the gap to seven points of four separate occasions. However, HTU had an answer every time and came away with the 86-64 win.
HTU scored 38 points off of turnovers compared to just 16 for Texas Wesleyan.
Three Lady Rams reached double-figures in scoring for Texas Wesleyan led by Brittany Turners 14 points. Kim Gatlin and Brittany Davenport added 10 points a piece. Five Lady Rams for HTU reached double-figures led by a game-high 18 from Ashley Wright.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, January 26, when they host Wiley College. That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center. |
