FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (12-7, 4-3 RRAC) suffered an 80-53 loss to Wiley College (17-4, 5-1 RRAC) on Saturday.
The Lady Rams started strong and took control of the game early. Led by Kim Gatlin, the Lady Rams took a 19-10 lead with 9:43 left in the first half. The Lady Rams let their lead slip away, as they were on the bad end of a 19-3 run with 1:58 left in the half. Texas Wesleyan couldn’t do much with ball and trailed 36-27 at the break.
In the second half the Lady Rams came out flat, and never seemed to be able to keep anything going, allowing the Lady Wildcats to score 44 points in the frame. The Lady Rams shot 32.8% in the game, while Wiley shot 55.6%.
Texas Wesleyan was led by Gatlin’s 11 points, three assists, and a steal. Brittany Davenport added 10 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
The Lady Rams will take on Jarvis Christian College on Monday, January 28, at the Sid Richardson Center. That contest is set to start at 5:30.
