FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head volleyball coach Christy Clawson announced today the signing of Whitni Calvert, a 5’8” standout from Cleburne, TX.
Calvert was a two-time All-District performer for coach Floyd Rogers at Cleburne High School. She earned 1st-team All-District and All-County honors this season. Calvert also excels in the classroom and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Calvert is the daughter of Chad Calvert and DeAnn Bailey.
Clawson was excited about the addition to her team, saying “Whitni is an athletic lefty. She jumps very well and has a great work ethic. As a freshman she will contribute on the court and push the rest of the team to be better.”
The Rams had an excellent 2007 season in their second year under Clawson’s guidance. Texas Wesleyan posted a 32-16 overall record and a perfect 10-0 mark in RRAC play. They reached the RRAC final for the fifth time in six years and also advanced to the Region VI championship game.
