ODESSA, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (0-3) suffered a 5-3 loss at the University of Texas-Permian Basin (3-9) on Sunday.
The Rams scored first when Lindsey Molinar was hit by a pitch leading off the fourth inning. Molinar stole second and later scored on a single from Ariel Raley. However, UTPB plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-RBI double from Doreen Slough. A two-run homer from Jessica Mireless highlighted a three-run fifth inning that brought the score to 5-1.
The Rams chipped away at the lead, scoring a run on singles from Tana Park and Molinar in the sixth.
In the seventh, Texas Wesleyan loaded the bases with just one out but managed to plate just one run on an RBI single from Rayne Reynolds.
Emily Morrow (1-5) got the win after allowing one run on one hit in four innings pitched. Ashley Oldham (0-2) took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work.
The Rams will return to action on Monday, when they meet RRAC foe College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM. Game one of that double-header is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start. |
