FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (1-7) dropped three contests in the Cowtown Classic at Gateway Park.
In the first game of the day, the Rams fell 9-3 to the University of Science & Arts (OK). After allowing three runs in the top of the first, the Rams tied the score with an RBI single from Brooke McNabb and a two-run homer from Ariel Raley in the bottom of the inning.
The game remained knotted at three until the seventh when the Drovers plated six unearned runs to take the win.
Taylor Wood (0-2) took the loss after allowing six unearned runs on eight hits while striking out six in six innings of relief. McNabb, Raley, and Rayne Reynolds each recorded a pair of hits for Texas Wesleyan.
In game-two, Oklahoma Baptist University plated four runs in each of the first two innings and ran away with an 8-1 win. Lindsey Molinar scored the Rams’ lone run when she led off the first with a single, stole second, stole third, and came home on a throwing error by the OBU catcher.
Ashley Tarrant (0-1) took the loss for the Rams.
In game-three, Rogers State plated one run in the third and used four hits and two Texas Wesleyan errors to score five more in the fifth.
That was plenty for Kelli Dunagan who shut the Rams out for seven innings. Ashley Oldham (0-4) took the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out five in six innings pitched.
Alyssa Cherry went 2-for-3 in the loss. |
