Dallas Christian played the Lady Rams tough in the first half. The lead changed hands 12 times in the first half and the Lady Crusaders took the lead 27-26 with 2:42 remaining with a 3-pointer from Stevie Sanford.
Kim Gatlin quickly answered with a three of her own to take the lead 29-27 with 1:41 left in the half.
The Lady Rams took a 31-27 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Lady Rams came out with greater intensity; pushing a tired Lady Crusaders team to the edge. Dallas Christian played the final 1:42 with only three players after seeing three of their athletes foul out of the contest.
Gatlin scored 16 points, got away with three steals and had three assists. Britannia Champion had 15 points and four boards. Brittany Davenport finished with nine points, six rebounds, and four assists. Andria Mitchell tallied eight points and took down eight boards.
Dallas Christian’s Quinn Reed led all scorers with 28 points.
The Lady Rams shot 40.5% from the field, 26.3% behind the arc, and 54.2% from the charity line. The Lady Rams get back into conference action when they host Huston-Tillotson on Monday, February 25 at the Sid Richardson Center in Fort Worth. That game scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start. |
FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team improved to 17-9 on the year after a win over Dallas Christian College by a score of 86-61 on Saturday at the Sid Richardson Center.
The second half saw strong play from the entire Lady Ram squad with Kim Gatlin topping the list.
