TYLER, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (3-9) improved to 3-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play by sweeping a doubleheader from Texas College on Friday.  The Rams took game one 8-5 before running away with a 14-0 decision in game-two.

The Rams scored early and often.  In game one, Lindsey Molinar set the tone when she drew a leadoff walk and promptly stole second and third.  The Rams went on to score five runs on five singles in the inning.  A leadoff single from Brooke McNabb led to two more Texas Wesleyan runs in the second.

The Steers clawed back into the contest when they score four runs on four hits in the third and added a solo home run in the fifth.

Texas Wesleyan added an unearned run in the sixth and held on for the 8-5 win.

Ashley Oldham (1-4) took the win after allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out eight in seven innings pitched.

Game two featured more explosive offense from the Rams while Ashley Tarrant tossed a one-hitter.

The first five Texas Wesleyan hitters reached base.  Doubles from McNabb and Alyssa Cherry led to five runs in the first inning.  The first five Rams in the second reached base as well as Texas Wesleyan sent eleven hitters to the plate and scored six more runs.  Molinar had two hits in the second including a two-run double.

Texas Wesleyan added two more runs in the third and one in the fourth.

Tarrant (1-1) allowed just three base-runners and only one hit, a third-inning single.  She walked one and struck out eight in five innings.

Elizabeth Brady was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Taylor Wood went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Molinar went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.

The Rams return to action when on Sunday, when they travel to Cedar Hill, TX, to take on Northwood University.  Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
