WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (21-10) suffered a 78-54 loss at the hands of second seeded Wiley College (26-5) in Red River Athletic Conference semifinal action on Friday.
The Lady Rams opened a quick 9-3 lead on the Wildcats, but Wiley came back with a 24-2 run that lasted nearly eight minutes and left a stunned Texas Wesleyan team trailing 27-11.
After shooting 62% from the field in the first half, Wiley led 43-22 at the break.
In the second half, the Wildcats continued to pull away, leading by as many as 33 on their way to the 78-54 win.
Texas Wesleyan’s Kim Gatlin led all scorers with 18 points. Wiley’s Ciara Sanders led five Wildcats in double-figure scoring with 16 points to go with seven assists.
The Lady Rams finish the season at 21-10, marking their highest win total since the 2004-05 season. |
