MUSKOGEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (5-22, 4-6 RRAC) narrowly lost a pair of games at Bacone College (17-19, 9-3) on Sunday. The Warriors needed eight innings to take game-one 5-4 before taking game two by a score of 10-9.
In game one, the Warriors plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the contest to an extra frame. In the top of the eighth, Lindsey Molinar scored the go-ahead run for the Lady Rams on a ground ball from Elizabeth Brady. However, Bacone charged back with two in the bottom of the inning to get the 5-4 win.
Ashley Oldham (2-9) allowed just three earned runs after pitching all eight innings. She scattered eight Bacone hits while striking out four.
Ariel Raley went 3-for-4 in the game.
In game two the Warriors scored big early on with six runs in the first. Trailing 7-0 in the top of the third, the Rams got back in the game with three of their own, but Bacone answered with three in the bottom of the frame.
Down 10-4 in the fifth inning, the Rams really got rolling. A three-run homer from Sabrina Davison highlighted a five run innings, but the rally fell just short and Bacone held on for the 10-9 win.
Taylor Wood (0-6) was roughed up for ten runs, six earned in 2.1 innings pitched. Cami Riley came on in relief and shut the Warriors out for the remainder of the game.
Raley, Wood, Brooke McNabb, and Tana Park each went 2-for-4 at the plate for Texas Wesleyan.
Monday’s doubleheader scheduled at Langston has been postponed. The Lady Rams will return to the field on Wednesday, April 2, when they take on Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. The first pitch in that doubleheader is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. |
