DeFRATUS NAMED RRAC P.O.W.

FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Steven DeFratus has been named Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period of March 24-30.

DeFratus, a senior right-hander from Oxnard, CA, helped the Rams stay perfect in conference play with a six-hit shutout in his only appearance of the week.  In an 8-0 win at Paul Quinn College (TX), he struck out seven hitters in seven innings of work while not issuing a walk.  With the win, DeFratus moved to 5-2 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.97.

After a 5-0 week, the 22nd ranked Rams moved to 23-8 overall while remaining atop the RRAC North Division at 6-0.  Texas Wesleyan will put its 12-game winning streak on the line on Friday, when they open a three-game Red River Athletic Conference series with College of the Southwest.  Friday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start, while Saturday’s series finale is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
