FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head women’s soccer coach announced today the signing of a trio of standouts from Texas Lightning Soccer Club.
Chelsie Yarbrough is a defensive midfielder out of South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, TX. Erin Bethany and Shannon Gonzalez are defenders from Martin High School in Arlington, TX. All three played for Vic Brown’s ’90 Texas Lightning Team.
“We are very excited to have these three players here at Texas Wesleyan,” Gibbs commented. “These players are the type you can build a program around. Erin has blazing speed, Chelsie is smart on the ball, and Shannon can play very well in many different spots. All three of these kids see and read the game exceptionally well.”
“The first thing that really stood out about them though, was their ability to get stuck in. They are nasty in tackles. So once we were drawn to them from that stand point, we saw how complete each player was, and worked very hard to get them here to Wesleyan. Each of these girls will be players that I am proud to have representing the University on the field, in the classroom, and in their day to day lives.”
The Lady Rams who have won two of the last three Red River Athletic Conference championships, finished at 8-7-3 this season. They featured six All-Conference players including three seniors.
