CEDAR HILL, TX:  After taking a 6-0 win in game one of a doubleheader at Northwood University (19-19, 7-7 RRAC), the Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (30-9, 11-1) suffered an 8-4 loss in game two.  The loss snapped a school record 19-game winning streak for the Rams.

Texas Wesleyan had not lost a game since an 11-10 defeat at Wayland Baptist on March 11.  During the streak, they outscored their opponents 200-59.

In game one, the Rams rode the right arm of Steven DeFratus to the win.  DeFratus (7-2) turned in his third consecutive complete-game shutout.  DeFratus allowed seven hits while striking out five.

The Rams started the scoring in the second when Antoine Cole doubled and scored on a single from Mikey Valdez.  Ryan Jacobi added a second run with an RBI double later in the inning.

In the fifth, Texas Wesleyan plated a pair of runs on three hits including an RBI single from Valdez.  A double from Blake Walker and a single from Butch Ballez made it 6-0 in the sixth inning.

Valdez, Ballez, and Zach Smith all recorded a pair of hits in the win.

In game two the Rams led 2-0 in the first after Blake Walker and Ballez executed a double steal of second and home and Kyle Harmon added an RBI single.  Northwood tied the game in the third with two runs on two hits and two walks.

The two teams traded runs in the fifth inning before Northwood broke the game open in the sixth.  The Knights sent ten men to the plate and scored five runs on three hits, three walks, and a hit batter.

The Rams added a solo home run from Cole in the eighth to account for the 8-4 final score.

Hayden Lackey (4-2) suffered the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

Ballez turned in another two-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
