FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head men’s soccer coach Josh Gibbs announced today the signing of Luis and Angel Villanueva out of Fort Worth’s North Side High School.
The brothers were both four-year lettermen and two-time 1st-team All-District selections for coach Garth Briggeman at NSHS. They also played club soccer for Ross Goldstein’s Fort Worth FC.
“Luis is a smart and creative player,” Gibbs commented. “He is very confident on the ball. He is a great mix of someone who can get stuck in and be skillful on the ball.
“Angel is a very talented midfield player. He is great on the ball and does well in a team possession concept. He is very good at finding players in possession, but can also deliver a dangerous pass in space.”
Gibbs went on to say, “We are very excited to have these two great players, and great people joining us at Texas Wesleyan. I believe their futures are bright in the Texas Wesleyan Soccer Family.
Texas Wesleyan had a solid 2007 season making their second Region VI Tournament appearance in the last three years. At 4-2-1 in conference play, they earned the second seed in the RRAC Tournament, where they defeated defending champion Huston-Tillotson in penalty kicks before falling in a shootout to UT-Brownsville in the RRAC title match. |
