FORT WORTH, TX: In the final home game for ten Texas Wesleyan University seniors, the Rams (35-12) took a 4-2 win over the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (20-23) on Tuesday.
Following the game, the Rams honored their ten seniors who were playing in their final game at LaGrave Field. The 2008 seniors have led Texas Wesleyan to 141 wins and 71 losses in their four years.
Texas Wesleyan got on the board with a two-out RBI single off the bat of Brandon Frazier in the second inning. The Rams made it 3-0 with a two-run home run from Blake Walker in the third.
USAO came back with two runs on a hit and a Texas Wesleyan error in the fourth inning. The Drovers loaded the bases with two down in the eighth, but Joey Evans came on to induce an ending inning fly ball.
A pinch-hit home run from Kyle Harmon in the bottom of the eighth gave the Rams an insurance run heading into the ninth inning. Joey Evans was up to the task in the ninth, locking down his fourth save of the season.
Freshman south-paw Jerad Beal (1-0) picked up his first collegiate win by tossing 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Beal allowed just one hit and struck out two.
Antoine Cole bumped his season average back over .400 with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Cole doubled in the first inning and raised his batting average to .403.
The Rams will take on NCAA Division I UT-Arlington on Wednesday. That game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. |
