LANGSTON, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (18-27) improved to 17-7 in Red River Athletic Conference play by sweeping a doubleheader at Langston University (3-17, 3-17 RRAC) on Thursday. The Lady Rams pushed their current winning streak to ten consecutive games by taking scores of 15-0 and 26-1.
The Rams used a two-run double from Elizabeth Brady as part of a four-run first inning. They added three more thanks to a two-run triple off the bat of Brooke McNabb in the second.
The floodgates opened in the third when the Rams scored seven runs on eight hits including four doubles. Elizabeth Brady doubled and scored in the fifth to bring the score to 15-0.
Rayne Reynolds (3-4) picked up the win with a complete-game shutout performance. She allowed two hits and four walks while striking out three.
Brady stood out in a 20-hit day for the Lady Rams. She went 3-for-4 with a school record tying three doubles, four RBI, and three runs scored.
In game two, the Rams set a school record with 31 hits while tying the school mark for doubles with eight.
Three of those doubles came in the first inning, as they plated six runs on six hits. A ten-run second inning made it 16-0.
The Rams then scored four runs in the third and five in the fourth, getting bases clearing triples from McNabb in both innings. An RBI single from Sabrina Davison brought the score to 26-1.
Ashley Tarrant (5-3) picked up the win after allowing one unearned run on one hit and four walks while striking out nine in five innings pitched.
McNabb recorded seven RBI in the game, going 4-for-6 with a double, triple, and four runs scored. Lateah Lucero and Sabrina Davison recorded the fifth and sixth five-hit games in school history.
The Rams return to action on Saturday in their regular season finale. They will host a doubleheader with LSU-Alexandria beginning at 2:00 p.m. The games will be highlighted by senior day festivities.
