FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Brooke McNabb has been named to the 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar Athlete team for the second time in her career. The award is given annually to juniors and seniors, nominated by their head coach, who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
McNabb also received Texas Wesleyan’s O.D. and Maurice Bounds Scholar Athlete Award this year. That award is given annually to the male and female athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
McNabb, a senior utility player, graduated with a degree in chemistry. She also holds several Texas Wesleyan softball records. She holds the record for career games played after starting in 205 of the team’s 207 contests in her four year career. Her record of 995 career putouts shattered the previous record of 460.
This season she hit .307 with one home run, 36 RBI, and a team leading six triples. In three postseason games, she hit .556 with a double, triple, home run, and six runs batted in.
The 2008 Lady Rams softball team finished the season at 19-31 overall. At 17-7 in conference play they were the third seed in the RRAC tournament.
