STARS EDGE RAMS IN OVERTIME |

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (1-1) played a second consecutive overtime contest on Saturday. This time the Rams came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 score against the Oklahoma City University Stars (3-0).
The Rams started hot as freshman Theo Nabassi netted his third goal of the season when Seth Mullins played the ball in from the right side in the sixth minute. In the 22nd minute OCU’s Luke Garvey played a cross from the right baseline that Ryan Trudgian put into the net to tie the game at one.
Both teams had opportunities to win in regulation but the game went to overtime still tied at one. In the 97th minute Trudgian ended the contest with his second goal of the day.
Joakim Soderbaum made three outstanding saves in goal for the Rams after relieving Toby Rochau. Rochau left the contest with an injury in the 27th minute. OCU’s Dustin Nolan made four saves in the win.
The Rams return to action on Friday, September 7, when they host another Sooner Conference foe, Mid-America Christian University. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be preceded by a women’s game. |
The game was slowed by 35 fouls and six yellow cards.
