RAMS RUN AWAY WITH 3-1 WIN
September 7, 2007

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (2-1-0) put on a dominating performance at Martin Field on Friday.  Texas Wesleyan earned a 3-1 decision over Mid-America Christian University (2-2-1).

The Rams out shot the Evangels 22-3 in the first half.  Chase Richeson gave the Rams the lead in the 22nd minute when he converted a free kick.  Freshman Leo Cubrilo made it 2-0 with his first collegiate goal three minutes later.

The Rams defense lapsed at the start of the second half.  MACU took advantage when Bryce Jantz got his team on the Board three minutes into the half.

Cubrilo regained the two goal advantage in the 68th minute when he took a behind the back pass from Theo Nabassi and finished his second goal of the day.

For the game, Texas Wesleyan out shot MACU 35-6.  Joakim Soderbaum was solid in goal although he did not make a save.  Austin Custer made seven saves for the Evangels.

“We keep getting better every day,” head coach Josh Gibbs said.  “We have a lot of very dangerous players and I think we showed that this evening.  Leo played a great game and took some of the strain off of Theo.”

The Rams return to action on Saturday, when they host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  That game is scheduled to start at 53:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a women’s game.
