CANYON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (3-2) suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Texas A&M University (4-0) on Wednesday.
After playing to a scoreless draw in the first half, the Buffalo put the game away with two early free kicks in the second half.
In the 54th minute Kenneth Christensen headed in a free kick to put West Texas A&M on top 1-0. five minutes later Itamar Keinan headed in a free kick to put the game away at 2-0.
West Texas added a goal from Rene Gomez in the 72nd goal to account for the 3-0 final.
Fourty-eight fouls were called between the two teams and Texas Wesleyan received two yellow cards. The Buffalo out shot the Rams 19-8.
“We just got beat today,” said head coach Josh Gibbs. “We didn’t play well enough to win.” The Rams return to action on Friday when they host St. Gregory’s University at Martin Field. That game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start. |
