FORT WORTH, TX: For the second time this season, Texas Wesleyan University’s Ashley Mock has been named Red River Athletic Conference Libero of the Week. Mock took the honor on September 4, and has won it again for the period of September 10-16. Meanwhile, the Lady Rams’ Evoni Darling has earned her first RRAC Setter of the Week selection.
Mock led the Rams to a 6-1 record last week. Against Wayland Baptist she shattered the school record for digs in a match with 51. The previous record was 40, set by Carmen Biel in 1995. For the week she averaged 24 digs per match.
Freshman Evoni Darling set up a balanced Texas Wesleyan offense last week. She posted three matches with 50 or more assists with 50 assists in three games against Southwestern Assemblies of God, a season-high 58 assists against Wayland Baptist, and 53 assists against Lubbock Christian. For the week she averaged 11.5 assists per game.
The Rams are ranked fourth in the NAIA’s Region VI with a record of 10-8 (1-0 RRAC). They return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Bethany, OK, to take on Southern Nazarene University. That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
