CHICKASHA, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team fell to 4-3 after a 3-0 loss at the hands of the University of Science & Arts (5-3) on Tuesday. The two teams entered the game ranked third and fourth in respectively in the NAIA’s Region VI.
USAO took an early lead when Terry Adamson found the net in the 12th minute. The game was tight until Wesley Costa put the Rams down 2-0 with a goal in the 70th minute.
The Drovers then tacked on a goal on a penalty kick by Danny Rodriguez in the 75th minute.
The Rams took 10 shots to USAO’s 11 but could not get one by goalkeeper Ricardo Moreira.
Toby Rochau made three saves in the loss.
“We had our chances in this one, but now we’ve got to put this game behind us quickly,” said head coach Josh Gibbs. “If we play our best in conference games, we will be ok.”
The Rams begin conference play on Friday, when they host Texas College. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
