FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyans University’s Liz Meng, Evoni Darling, and Ashley Mock swept the Red River Athletic Conference Player, Setter, and Libero of the Week awards for the period of September 16-23.
Meng led a balanced offense to a perfect 3-0 week with victories over Southern Nazarene, Bacone and Our Lady of the Lake. Against Southern Nazarene she had 17 kills and 16 digs. She just missed another double-double as the Rams breezed to a 3-0 win over Bacone. Meng finished with 13 digs and 8 kills in that contest. For the week she averaged a double-double with 10.6 kills and 12.3 digs per match.
Freshman setter Evoni Darling earned her second consecutive Setter of the Week award. She posted 47 assists on the road against Southern Nazarene. She then had 31 assists against Bacone and 26 against Our Lady of the Lake. Darling also tossed in an outstanding nine aces including a season-high six against Bacone.
Ashley Mock’s took her second consecutive and third Libero of the Week award on the year. She averaged 15.7 digs per match. She also tossed in four aces in the three wins. Mock went for 22 digs and a pair of aces in a road victory over Southern Nazarene.
With the three victories, the Rams improved to 13-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They have won nine of their last ten matches. Texas Wesleyan returns to the court with three RRAC matches on the road on Tuesday. They will play Wiley at 1:00 p.m. in Marshall, TX, Jarvis Christian College at 5:00 p.m. in Hawkins, TX, and Texas College at 7:00 p.m. in Tyler, TX.
