FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (16-8, 5-0 RRAC) played three Red River Athletic Conference matches in three different locations on Tuesday. The Lady Rams took full advantage of the day, taking three wins and vaulting to the top of the RRAC North Division standings at 5-0 this season.
The day began in Marshall, TX, where the Rams took on the Wiley College Wildcats. In the closest match of the day, Texas Wesleyan prevailed 3-1. The Rams took games one and two, 30-15 and 30-21. The Wildcats took a slim 30-27 win in game three before the Rams finished the match with an emphatic 30-12 win in game four.
Liz Meng led the offense with 20 kills, while Sandra Ayala had 17 kills and 10 digs. Ashley Mock posted 13 digs, and Evoni Darling finished with 47 assists.
Texas Wesleyan then traveled to Hawkins, TX, to take on Jarvis Christian College where they took their most dominant win of the season, breezing to the 3-0 win with scores of 30-5, 30-6, and 30-7. The Rams turned in a very balanced stat sheet in the match. Brittney Person had a team-high 7 kills. Darling posted 26 assists. Nikki Massey had 5 kills and 5 service aces.
The Rams then hit the road again, this time traveling to Tyler, TX, where they knocked off Texas College 3-0 (30-9, 30-11, 30-23). Meng led the way with 8 kills. Darling had 16 assists, and Ashley Mock had a season-high 8 aces.
The Rams return to the court on Friday, October 5, when they travel to Plainview, TX, to take on Wayland Baptist University. That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
