LADY RAMS STING SCORPIONS
September 29, 2007

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (5-4-2) improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 2-1 win over UT-Brownsville (7-5, 3-2) on Saturday.

The Rams were the first to score in the 16th minute when Loren Clark fed the ball to Candice Reeves who just got the ball past an out stretched UTB goalkeeper, hit the left post, and found the net.

That 1-0 lead held until Brittany Mosley’s header off a corner kick tied the game in the 66th minute.  Three minutes later Reeves dropped a pass back to Sarah Wilson who ripped a bomb from 35 yards to score the game-winning goal.

Both teams managed 21 shots.  Brittany O’Brien made seven saves in goal for the Rams.  Jessica Hamer made six stops for the Scorpions.

In spite of the win, head coach Josh Gibbs was not pleased with the performance.  “UT-Brownsville is a good team,” he commented, “but we did not play our best game today.  I’m glad we came out with a win, and now we will prepare for Houston Baptist.”

The Rams travel to Houston, TX, on Wednesday, October 3, to take on the NCAA Division I Huskies.  That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start and will be followed by a men’s game.
