LADY RAMS WIN BATTLE WITH PIONEERS

October 5, 2007

PLAINVIEW, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (17-8) dropped the opening game of a match at Wayland Baptist University (12-11) on Friday, but recovered to take a 3-1 win.

The Pioneers opened with a 30-26 win.  Texas Wesleyan responded with an emphatic 30-16 win in game two.

Wayland Baptist did not go quietly.  Game three was a marathon battle that swung the Rams way at 36-34.  Texas Wesleyan then notched a 30-26 win in game four to decide the match.

Erinn Miller, Liz Meng, and Sandra Ayala, who have led the Rams’ offense all season, went for 22, 20, and 19 kills respectively.  Meng posted her first career 20-20 match with 20 kills and 20 digs.  Miller also had a double-double with 16 digs to go with her 22 kills.

Evoni Darling added 54 assists and 33 digs.  Ashley Mock added to her conference-leading season total (529) with 24 digs.

The Rams will continue their West Texas road trip on Saturday.  The will take on Lubbock Christian University at 11:00 a.m. in Lubbock, TX, before making the trip to Hobbs, NM, for a Red River Athletic Conference meeting with College of the Southwest at 5:00 p.m. central standard time.
