MUSKOGEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (6-6-2) improved to 2-1-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 win over Bacone College (2-8, 0-4 RRAC) on Tuesday.
A pair of freshman, Leo Cubrilo and Adis Druzanovic, gave the Rams a 2-0 lead going into halftime. The Rams were able to hold that lead in the second half, and got their final goal on a Bacone own goal.
Goalkeeper Joakim Soderbaum earned his first collegiate shutout after working all 90:00 minutes in the net for the Rams. Soderbaum needed only one save as the Rams allowed just five shots and only one shot on goal in the contest.
At 2-1-1 in conference play, Texas Wesleyan is now tied for third in the RRAC standings, trailing only UT-Brownsville (5-0) and Texas College (3-1). The Rams hold the tiebreaker with Texas College after earning a 2-1 decision over the Steers earlier this season.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Cedar Hill, TX, to take on Northwood University. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start and will be preceded by a women’s game.
