FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team swept the Red River Athletic Conference Player, Libero, and Setter of the Week awards for the second time this season. Liz Meng was named Player of the Week for the second time this year, while Evoni Darling won her third Setter of the Week award, and Ashley Mock won her sixth Libero of the Week award.
Meng, a senior right side hitter from Weatherford, TX, helped the Lady Rams post a 3-2 week with 63 kills in 158 total attacks with only 18 errors (.285 hitting percentage). She averaged 4.5 kills per game in four games at the Houston Baptist University (TX) Husky Classic including 17 kills in a four-game loss to the host school. Meng also had 13 digs in that match and posted 14 kills and 13 digs in a loss to the second-ranked team in NAIA Region VI, Lubbock Christian University (TX). Men'gs performance also earned her the Region VI Player of the Week award.
Darling, a freshman setter from Grapevine, TX, was named both Conference and Region Setter of the Week. She delivered 210 assists for the week and topped 50 in a single match for the fifth time this season in the 3-1 loss at HBU. She also accounted for 47 assists and 13 digs against Oklahoma City University in addition to totals of 40 and eight against LCU. Darling contributed 53 digs and 15 kills while averaging 13.1 assists per game.
Mock, a senior libero from Azle, TX, averaged 4.8 digs per game last week including 19 against OCU and 17 against LCU. She committed just two receiving errors in 100 total attempts and added four service aces. Mock earned her sixth weekly award in seven weeks.
Texas Wesleyan is currently 6-0 at the top of the RRAC North Division with an overall record of 21-11. The Lady Rams return to action on Wednesday, when they host Wiley College. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
