LADY RAMS DO SENIOR DAY WITH STYLE
October 20, 2007

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  On Saturday, five members of the Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (8-6-3, 5-1-1 RRAC) played their final regular season game.  How did they fare?  They combined for seven goals, two assists, and a shutout in goal as Texas Wesleyan took a dominant 11-0 win over College of the Southwest (1-11, 1-5).

Senior Sarah Wilson scored her first of three goals just eleven minutes into the contest.  Loren Clark, another senior, followed with her first of four scores six minutes later.  Clark also added an assist to an impressive day.

Texas Wesleyan led 4-0 at halftime, and the floodgates opened for seven goals in the second half.

Seniors Allie Heafner and Aubrey Rice contributed a goal and an assist respectively.  Holly Rowland made three saves in goal to notch her fifth career shutout, and improve to 14-7 in four seasons with the Rams.

A promising freshman class added to the route.  Jayme Karl posted three points on a goal and an assist.  Christina Zimmerman added a goal, while Cathernine Bently and Lindsey Winsman both had assists.  Sophomore Kly Randell also scored for Texas Wesleyan.

“What a great day for our seniors,” said head coach Josh Gibbs.  “They have worked incredibly hard and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The game was not the final home game for the Lady Rams.  Texas Wesleyan will host next week’s Red River Athletic Conference Tournament.  At 5-1-1, the Rams will be the second seed in the tournament, earning a bye through Thursday’s first round.

The Lady Rams will take on the highest remaining seed after Thursday’s quarterfinals.  That match will be played at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at Martin Field.
