FORT WORTH, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference has released its volleyball players of the week for the period of October 15-21. For the seventh time this season, Texas Wesleyan University’s Ashley Mock has been selected as Libero of the Week. UT-Brownsville’s Claudia Alarcon and Daianarah Bracero were named player and setter of the week.
Mock, a senior libero from Azle, TX, paved the way to a 3-0 week for the Lady Rams with 32 digs in three conference victories. She had 17 digs against Wiley College (TX) and committed no receiving errors in 36 attempts. Mock also matched her career-high with nine service aces against Jarvis Christian College (TX). The Lady Rams have a spotless record in conference play at 9-0 with an overall mark of 24-11 on the season.
Alarcon, a junior outside hitter from Lima, Peru, averaged 3.7 kills per game in a 2-1 week for the Scorpions. Bracero, a freshman setter from Sabana Grande, P.R., piled up 125 assists in UTB’s three matches. UTB completed a perfect 6-0 record against RRAC South Division competition, and the Scorpions are 23-6 overall.
