GEORGETOWN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (26-14) dropped a pair of matches in the Southwestern University volleyball tournament on Saturday. The Lady Rams fell in a 3-2 marathon against Texas A&M International Univeristy (9-19) and then lost to the hosting Pirates (25-10) 3-1.
Against TAMIU, the Rams rebounded from an opening 30-28 loss to take game two 30-23. A thrilling 34-32 win in game three put the Rams in control at 2-1, but the Dustdevils took game three 30-19 and breezed through the decisive fifth game 15-4.
The Lady Rams jumped ahead of Southwestern with a 30-25 win in game one. The next three games were hotly contested, but the Pirates prevailed with scores of 30-28, 30-25, and 30-28.
The Lady Rams have a week off before a demanding road trip next Saturday. The Rams will play Bacon College at 11:00 a.m. in Muskogee, OK, and then face John Brown University at 5:00 p.m. in Siloam Springs, AR.
