RAMS TAKE THIRD AT COFFEE CREEK

EDMOND, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team wrapped up its fall semester with a third place finish at Oklahoma Christian University’s Sleep Inn & Suites Classic at Coffee Creek Golf Course.

The Rams followed a first round 293, the Rams shot 298 in the second round to finish 12 strokes behind Oklahoma City University.  The Stars, ranked first nationally in the NAIA, shot 292 on Tuesday to surpass the University of Victoria who led after round one.  The Stars won the tournament at 579, while Victoria finished second at 582.

Victoria’s Julian Valencia held off Texas Wesleyan’s Kevin Doskocil for the individual title.  Valencia shot 67, 71-138 to take the title, while Doskocil shot 73, 70-143 to tie for second.

Mitch Hendon finished at 146, Carlos Arenas 149, Armando Villarreal 153, and Paco Saracho 155 to round out Texas Wesleyan’s scores.

In five tournaments this fall, the Rams have taken three wins, one third, and one tenth place finish.
