FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University Volleyball team (30-14) won both match’s on the first day of the RRAC tournament by defeating Texas College (5-12) 3-0 (30-3, 30-16, 30-15), and SAGU(24-11) 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-15).
In the quarter-final match against Texas College, Liz Meng led the charge for the Lady Rams with 10 kills, 3 block assists, 3 solo blocks, and 2 service aces. Erinn Miller tallied 11 kills, 4 service aces, and 1 block assist. Evoni Darling was solid posting 30 assists, and Ashley Mock had 21 digs in the win. Sandra Ayala aced 7 to go along with 11 digs.
In the semi-final match against SAGU, Three Lady Rams received double-doubles. Erinn Miller had 12 kills and 18 digs. Sandra Ayala tallied 16 kills to go along with 12 digs, and Liz Meng had 12 kills and 10 digs in the win.
In other conference tournament action, first seeded UT-Brownsville (28-7) dominated eighth seeded Bacone 3-0 (30-8, 30-12, 30-8). Fourth seeded College of the Southwest defeated Wiley 3-0 (30-25, 30-16, 30-19). Third seeded SAGU took down sixth seeded Paul Quinn 3-0 (30-8, 30-7, 30-11).
In the first semi-final match, top seeded UT-Brownsville eliminated #4 College of the Southwest 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-21) setting up a showdown between #1 UT-Brownsville vs. #2 Texas Wesleyan University. The Championship match set to start Saturday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m.
