LADY RAMS FALL SHORT, WILL LOOK TO REBOUND IN REGIONALS

November 10, 2007

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (30-15) suffered a loss in the Red River Conference Athletic Conference Championship. UT-Brownsville (30-7) won the championship in 3 games (30-22, 30-22, 30-27).

Evoni Darling posted a double double with 27 assists and 17 digs. Kristen Venhuizen did a little of everything with 4 kills, an assist, a service ace, 3digs, and 4 block assists. Liz Meng had 6 block assists, 2 solo blocks, and 12 digs to go along with her 9 kills. Erinn Miller finished the game with 7 kills, 9 digs and 3 block assist. Sandra Ayala tallied 7 kills, 18 digs, 2 block assists and 3 solo blocks in the match.

The 2007 RRAC All- Conference Awards were announced after the game and the Lady Rams picked up some awards. Darling was named Setter of the Year and second team all conference. Mock was named Defensive Specialist of the Year and was named first team all conference. Ayala and Meng were also named first team all conference. Miller was named a second team all conference player.

The Lady Rams look to rebound and will travel to Lubbock, TX to play in the region tournament. First round game time and opponent to be announced.
