YOUNG RAMS STAY HOT
November 17, 2007

Box Score

STERLING, KS:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (3-1) took a 74-68 win over Tabor College at the Sterling Warrior Classic on Saturday.

The Rams trailed 37-36 at halftime, but head coach Terry Waldrop’s multiple match-up zone defensive package stifled Tabor in the second half.  The Rams held Tabor to 40% from the floor and 20% from long range in the period and forced 21 turnovers in the game.

Meanwhile, the Rams shot 52% from the floor and 36% (4-of-11) from downtown.

The effort was led in large part by a sophomore and two freshmen.  Dane Dmitrovic finished with a career-high 19 points to go with nine rebounds.  “At times Dane just dominated the game,” commented Waldrop.  “He played extremely well and we had two freshman [Evan] Randall and [Ryan] Barnes log a lot of valuable minutes as well.”

Randall, a sure-handed point guard, played nearly 30 minutes while committing just one turnover.  Aaron Scott added 17 points for the Rams while Hector Mukweyi scored six points, and came up with seven rebounds.

The Rams will return to the court on Monday, when they travel to Bartlesville, OK, to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan University.  That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
