RAMS TOP PRAIRIE DOGS, 9-6
February 15, 2009

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (7-1) rallied for a 9-6 win over the College of Santa Fe (1-8) at LaGrave Field on Sunday.  The Rams spotted the Prairie Dogs five runs in the first inning, but responded with nine unanswered runs to take the game.

The Prairie Dogs came out swinging and scored five runs on six hits, including doubles from Delano Ponce, Blaine Federico, and Buck Gulley in the first inning.

Harrison Law answered immediately by leading off the bottom of the frame with a triple.  Eric Alvarez followed with a ground rule double to get the Rams on the board.  Alvarez scored on an infield single from Ryan Ragsdale to bring the score to 5-2.

After the first inning Caleb Thomas, who was making his first appearance since May 4, 2007, settled down to toss two scoreless frames before being lifted in favor of Kody Thiebaud.

In the bottom of the third, the Rams loaded the bases with one out.  Matt Taylor singled to bring home two runs, and an RBI grounder from Justin Keller tied the game at five.  A sac fly from Elrick Lounds later plated Taylor with the go ahead run.

In the fourth, Anthony Clark laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third, and Ragsdale singled home Law.

A ground rule double from Keller and RBI singles from Trent Sewell and Law in the fifth brought the score to 9-5.

The Prairie Dogs added an RBI double from Ponce in the seventh to cap the scoring at 9-6.

Kody Thiebaud (2-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on two hits while striking out four in four innings of work.  Joe Salazar took the loss after allowing nine runs, six earned, on nine hits in six inning pitched.

Law led the Rams by going 3-for-4 with a triple, stolen base, RBI, and two runs scored.  Alvarez, Ragsdale, and Sewell each contributed a pair of hits.

The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Round Rock, TX, to take on Concordia University Texas.  That doubleheader is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start at the Dell Diamond.
