FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s head volleyball coach Christy Clawson announced today the signing of two transfer students from Brookhaven College.
Outside hitter Brooke Shelton and middle blocker Holly Kieschnick led Brookhaven to the 2008 NJCAA Division III National Championship.
Shelton was an All-American selection for head coach Jason Hopkins and was named MVP of the National Tournament. As a sophomore she paced the team with 414 kills. The 5-9 OH, who will be a junior in the 2009 season, was also an All-Region selection in her freshman year after leading BC to a third place finish at the National Tournament.
Shelton also played for Coach Richardson at Burkburnett High School where she was twice named District MVP.
Kieschnick, a 6-0 middle blocker, was a two-time All-Conference selection at Brookhaven. This season she posted 229 kills and 42 blocks. At Gladwater High School, she was a four-time 1st-team All-District selection for Coach McPherson.
The Lady Rams finished third in the Red River Athletic Conference at 9-2 this season. They reached the semifinals of the RRAC tournament where they were defeated in a dramatic 5-game match with the eventual champion, Wiley. The team featured six All-Conference selections. |
