FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head softball coach Shannon Gower announced today the signing of Kali Jester, an infielder out of Brewer High School.
Jester will complete her fourth year at Brewer High School in 2010 before joining the Lady Rams the following season. A two-time All-District selection for coach Monica Garza, she has helped BHS to the playoffs twice. She has also received Academic All-District honors and received the team’s Best All Around and Golden Glove awards last season.
Coach Gower believes that Jester, who will play catcher and shortstop, will “be a great asset for us. She is a very intelligent player who really knows the game. She’s great defensively, at the plate, and on the bases.”
Texas Wesleyan finished third in the Red River Athletic Conference last season. In the process Coach Gower became the program’s all-time winningest coach, finishing the season with 116 career victories. The team featured six All-Conference players including Co-Player of the Year Haley Butler. The pitching staff led the conference in strikeouts while ranking second in ERA last season. Meanwhile the team’s top five hitters included three freshman and two sophomores. |
