HUNTSVILLE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team finished seventh at Sam Houston State University’s Bearkat Classic at Elkins Lake.
Sam Houston made a final round charge to win the tournament. The Bearkats shot a 283 on Tuesday to overtake Stephen F. Austin State University by one stroke at 849. NAIA players finished first and second in the tournament that featured seven NCAA Division I teams. Oklahoma City University’s Anthony Michael shot 11-under par 205 (66, 72, 67) to top Oklahoma Christian University’s Oscar Stark by three shots.
Texas Wesleyan shot 295 on Tuesday to finish 7th at 892 (two shots behind 5th place UT-Pan American) for the tournament. The Rams were led by Kevin Doskocil who finished 15th at one-over par 217 after a final round of 73.’
Paco Saracho tied for 16th at 218. Drew Konnce tied for 36th at 226. Jeff Lamoureux shot 235, and Tyler Fernandez finished at 237 to round out Texas Wesleyan’s card.
The Rams will finish up their Fall schedule October 24-25 with St. Ambrose Univeristy’s NAIA Preview Invitational at TPC at Deer Run in Silvis, IL.
