FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (6-4-2, 3-2 RRAC) took a 1-0 Red River Athletic Conference win over Northwood University (7-6, 2-2) at Martin Field on Thursday.

In a very evenly played match, the Rams broke a 0-0 tie in the 57th minute when Leo Cubrilo knocked a pass from Marcus Harris into the net.

Northwood out shot Texas Wesleyan 22-20.  The two teams were even at five corner kicks each.

Joakim Soderbaum made 11 saves in his fifth shutout of the season.  Northwood’s Michael Crawford made eight saves in the loss.

“This was a well deserved win,” said head coach Josh Gibbs.  “I thought we were the better team today; it just took a while to show it.  We really played well in the second half.”

The Rams will host Huston-Tillotson University on Saturday.  That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start and will be preceded by senior day festivities.
