FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Destiny Clemmons has been named Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Hitter of the Week for the period of October 13-19, while her teammate, Evoni Darling, was named Co-Setter of the Week.
Clemmons, a junior middle blocker from Grand Prairie, TX, elevated the Lady Rams to a 4-1 showing at the RRAC Crossover Tournament. She registered 46 kills on 100 attempts with 16 errors (.300 hitting percentage) along with eight service aces. Clemmons reached double figures in kills against Huston-Tillotson University (TX) with 12 and Texas College with 11 while averaging 2.88 kills per game. Texas Wesleyan is 6-2 in the RRAC and 8-22 on the season.
Darling, a sophomore setter from Grapevine, TX, chipped in 94 assists for the Lady Rams. She had highs of 26 assists in a win over Texas College and 20 in a loss to Wiley. Darling had 25 digs and averaged 5.88 assists per game.
Kelani Keoho of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (TX) was chosen as the Player of the Week while her teammate, Rachel Brown, was named Co-Setter of the Week with Darling. UT-Brownsville’s Anayeli Trevino was named Libero of the Week.
The Lady Rams will host Southern Nazarene University on tonight at 7:00 pm. in the Sid Richardson Center.
