Box Score vs. Our Lady of the Lake

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (13-25, 9-2 RRAC) took a pair of convincing wins on the final day of the regular season.  The Rams dispatched Bacone College (14-22, 2-7) in straight sets and the blanked Our Lady of the Lake University (10-13) in non-conference action.

 

In the morning match, the Rams jumped ahead of Bacone quickly.  With the score at 14-11, Emily Millican served the Rams through a 4-0 run that made it a more comfortable 18-11 on their way to a 25-13 win.  In game two, the Rams ran out to a 16-5 lead and cruised to a 25-11 win.  In game three they came out quickly again with a 15-6 lead and led by as many as 13 (20-7) on their way to a 25-10 decision.

 

Brittney Person led the attack with nine kills while Destiny Clemmons added eight.  Evoni Darling pitched in a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs.  Katlynn Romig added a match-high 16 digs.

 

Against Our Lady of the Lake, game one rolled through six ties and five lead changes before the Lady Rams closed out a 25-18 win.  Texas Wesleyan then breezed to a 25-12 win in game two and finished the match with a 25-14 win.

 

Person again led the way with nine kills.  Emily Millican posted 12 digs and eight assists, and Darling notched 24 assists.

 

“We’re doing things in the last three matches that we had not been doing,” said head coach Christy Clawson.  “Practice is paying off, and it looks like were going to peak at the right time.”

 

The Rams will now gear up for the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament which will be held November 14-15 on the campus of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, TX.
