FORT WORTH, TX: For the third time this season, Texas Wesleyan University’s Chris Berry has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Berry share the award for the dates of December 8-14, with Wiley College’s Darnell Adams.
Berry, a senior forward from Dallas, TX, powered the NAIA's seventh-ranked team to two victories as the host of the Clifford Christmas Classic. He opened the tournament with 21 points in an 87-67 victory over Rhema Bible College (OK). Berry followed with 18 points, four rebounds, and five assists in a 67-59 win over NAIA #19 Belhaven College (MS). For the week, he made 12-of-22 field goal attempts as the Rams improved to 7-1.
Adams, a senior guard from Houston, TX, poured in 21 points and grabbed four rebounds as the Wildcats won their only game of the week, 59-54, over Xavier University (LA). He was 9-of-9 from the free throw line as Wiley moved to 5-7 on the season.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Dallas Christian College. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
