FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (2-0) took a 3-1 win over Ouachita Baptist University (1-1) at Martin Field on Sunday.
The Tigers put some pressure on the Rams with a goal from Sergiu Postalache in the ninth minute. Theo Nabassi tied the game at one when he headed in a cross from Jorge Pineda in the 27th minute.
Adis Druzanovic broke the 1-1 tie just 29 seconds into the second half with an assist from Ricardo Aguilera. Marcus Harris added an insurance goal with an assist from Druzanovic in the 81st minute.
Texas Wesleyan outshot Ouachita Baptist 22-14 and took seven corner kicks compared to just one for the Tigers. Toby Rochau (1-0) made five saves in the win.
“I thought we were dominant again,” said head coach Josh Gibbs, “but just didn’t finish scoring opportunities again. We have some work to do still, but I think this team is starting to gel.”
The Rams will return to the field on Saturday, when they host Oklahoma Baptist University. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
