FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TEXAS WESLEYAN HOSTING ART MARATHON FOR AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Area high school art students will have the opportunity to create and display art during a full-day Art Marathon at Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Texas Wesleyan faculty and art majors will conduct workshops in three media: sculpture, digital art, and large format drawing/painting. The one-day workshop, which begins at 9 a.m., is supported by a Neighborhood Arts Grant from the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

High school senior art students from the Fort Worth ISD and from member districts of the Texas Wesleyan University Art Educators Advisory Board are invited to attend this full day of art making. The workshops are free to participating students. Each artist will receive a certificate to document their workshop experience in his or her Advanced Placement or college entry portfolios.

The day will conclude with an art opening and reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Artists and visitors may go to each studio and view the creations from the day. Parents, members of the Fort Worth ISD administrative community, the Texas Wesleyan University community, and the Fort Worth Arts Council are invited to attend the progressive opening.

The opening and reception for the Digital Art Workshop will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Room B36 (basement) of the Eunice and James L. West Library, 1101 Wesleyan St.

The opening and reception for the Sculpture and Drawing/Painting Workshops will be 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Boyd House, 1300 Wesleyan St., on the corner of Wesleyan Street and Avenue E. The Art Marathon is hosted by the Texas Wesleyan University Department of Art.

Interested students should contact their art teacher. For additional information, contact Kit Hall at (817) 531-5823 or khall@txwes.edu.
