Sid Richardson Gymnasium and the Baker Building
Renovations to the Sid Richardson Gymnasium are nearly complete. The bleachers will be installed next month. The gym is open for all university activities; the volleyball team competes in their first exhibition match of the season on Friday, August 15, at 10 a.m.
The Baker Building is on schedule to be completed by the end of September. The electrical and plumbing has been roughed in, the interior walls have been framed, and the roof has been repaired. Some outside brickwork remains to be done. The next steps will be to install the windows and air conditioning.
The Baker Building, formerly used as a scene shop, will house a 2500-square-foot community center, a conference room, and four offices. In addition, there will be tables and chairs and a food preparation area for making sandwiches, coffee, or other items that do not require a full kitchen to prepare.
