FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Theatre Wesleyan Presents the 52nd Annual Spring Musical, Dames at Sea

Theatre Wesleyan will present the 52nd Annual Spring Musical Dames at Sea at 7:30 p.m. April 20-22 and at 2 p.m. April 23. A musical comedy with book by George Haimsohn & Robin Miller, music by Jim Wise, and lyrics by George Haimsohn & Robin Miller, Dames at Sea was deemed "A gem of a musical!" by The New York Times. Starring Texas Wesleyan seniors Marla Kelly and Patrick James, the musical follows a fledging songwriter (James as Dick) and an aspiring tap dancer (Kelly as Ruby) as they fight to make their Broadway show – Dames at Sea – a success. When the WPA shuts down a 42nd St. theatre, where better to take a show titled Dames at Sea than to a battleship in the U.S. Navy? Ruby and Dick insist the show must go on, and with everyone inspired it might just open on time. But that’s only possible if all the romantic entanglements don’t break up the troupe first!

Directed by Jeanne Everton, with musical direction by Alex Vorse, Dames at Sea will be performed in the Thad Smotherman Theatre in the Law Sone Fine Arts Center, located on the corner of Binkley Street and Avenue E on the Texas Wesleyan University campus.

The Theatre Wesleyan Box Office can be reached at (817) 531-4211 Tuesday through Friday, and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. April 11-21. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $6 for Wesleyan faculty and staff and $5 for all students with ID. Group rates available.
